Welcome to The Diamond Cortex!
I’m Dr. E. (Erinisha Johnson), and I’m so excited that you are here with me. I hope you will decide to stay and come back as often as you would like to visit!
If you are on this website, then you should already know that I am a therapist, the Owner of Therapeutic Gems, and you may not know this one..I’m also a psychology professor. I can promise you that these blogs will give you at least one or two (hopefully more) therapeutic gems that will help you!
Here’s a slight confession:
As much as I love psychology, it was not my first love. Actually, I have two first loves that I cannot choose between (can we have two first loves? Maybe not, but just roll with it, please). My first two loves were music and writing. Unfortunately, I was not given the gift of being able to sing, but I dare you to start a conversation with me about music, I will talk for hours and hours. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved writing! I’ve written poetry, short stories, created journals, etc. Can you see why it’s hard for me to choose?

My love for psychology started at an early age as well, except I just did not know the name for it until I was a junior in high school. I took Intro to Psychology, which was a dual enrollment course (you know, one of those courses that allows you to get high school and college credit at the same time).
It was taught by my high school counselor, Mrs. Barbara Artman, who we can say officially introduced me to a love that I could finally name. By the end of the very first class, I knew that psychology was made for me or was I made for psychology? I had always loved studying people as well as helping people. I was everyone’s unofficial counselor even at an early age! Before now, I thought I would become a teacher or writer.
Well guess what?
I’m now a counselor, a professor, and with this blog, I get to reunite with one of my first loves: writing.
If you are still here, thank you for reading this far!
Here is my official invitation:
Join me weekly for short, but insightful posts related to mental health. It is my hope that you will leave feeling inspired, encouraged, educated, or maybe even seen.
Oh, since we are well acquainted now, do me a favor: share my website with others, and don’t forget to come back! Talk to you soon.
Love,
Dr. E
